• Wenn es um Aufnahmen von Johann Sebastian Bachs Musik geht, gehören die Aufnahmen mit Peter Harvey mit ziemlicher Sicherheit zu meinen Favoriten. Nachdem ich die Chance hatte, mit ihm für einen längeren Zeitraum zu arbeiten, wurde ich darin bestätigt wieso das so ist. Man merkt Peter seine uneingeschränkte Leidenschaft fuür seinen Beruf an und er kann sie ohne Probleme im Rahmen seines Unterrichts auf die Schüler übertragen. Es macht großen Spaß mit ihm zu arbeiten. Er ist ein bodenständiger und entspannter Lehrer ohne jegliche Allüren. Für mich als gebürtigen Deutschen war die Arbeit an Bachs Musik mit einem "Nicht-Muttersprachler" sehr interessant. Man findet andere Perspektiven und denkt über Dinge nach, die man vorher nicht genug beachtet bzw. als selbstverständlich angesehen hat. Neben Bach kann man mit Peter jeglichen Stil von Barockmusik erarbeiten und sich an seinen umfangreichen Kenntnissen erfreuen. Auch seine Ansichten und Erfahrungen aus dem Profi-Bereich sind im Rahmen des Kurses sehr wertvoll gewesen. Abseits von der Musik Bachs, lohnt es sich sehr mit Peter an englischsprachiger Musik zu arbeiten, um die Regeln für eine authentische Aussprache zu verinnerlichen.

  When it comes to recordings of Bachs music Peter Harvey is for sure one of my favorite artists to listen to. After having had the chance to work with him for a longer period of a masterclass i got reassured why this is the case. Peter is highly dedicated to his craft and is able to easily transmit this passion in his teaching. He is absolutely fun to work with and is an approachable/affable down-to-earth person! Regarding interpretation it was (as a native german speaker) often revealing to me to get a slightly different view on Bachs music that highlights details that I took for granted or I hadn't really thought about sufficiently. Peter has a lot of knowledge in various styles of baroque music and you can pretty much discuss or work on everything with him. As I am already working with this music I could benefit a lot from all his (on- and offstage) experience with the big works of Bach as well as any cantata that we worked on. And obviously you benefit a lot from working on English repertoire with him - concerning pronunciation and style mutually!

• Peter Harvey was able to assist me with a great variety of technical problems as well as stylistic issues and interpretations of early music pieces, especially with Bach arias. He is the first person to properly make me understand trilling. His fun and lighthearted style of teaching made the masterclasses with him a great deal of fun and very productive. In my opinion every singer could profit from his variety of knowledge regarding old music and historical performance practice.
