The recordings on this page do not fall neatly into categories based on geography - at least, not by today's geography. Hasse was a German, writing in an Italian style, but living in Poland; de Croes was from what is now Belgium; Zelenka worked in Dresden, but was a Bohemian by birth, while, more straight-forwardly, Teixeira was Portuguese then and would still be now.

Franz-Xaver (or François-Xavier) Richter was a German who ended up in Strasbourg (or Strassburg) - a part of Europe which has always been hotly contested and has so frequently changed hands that to say he was either German or French would leave many people looking at the wrong page.
